Background
Dec. 12th, 2013 05:27 pmWhen he first appears in canon, Raphael has already assumed the role of Phantom R and his father has been missing for three years. Finally having a clue, in the form of a recently opened exhibit featuring a bracelet bearing the same mark as a coin his father had left behind, he felt he might be able to find him. He sent the police a warning letter announcing his intention to steal the bracelet of Tiamat, an ancient Babylonian artifact, which was also a little outside of his usual thefts. He stole the bracelet and escaped from the police by outmaneuvering and outwitting them.
As they were skirting the checkpoints, they came across a little girl who was upset over a lost balloon, but soothed by a young woman who played the violin.Raphael retrieved the balloon, but with the police still on his tail he had to leave quickly. He met the same violinist just a little later, when she came to him because she was being pursued by a man calling himself Napoleon. Raphael fended off his men and escaped with the girl, whose violin had the same mark as the coin and bracelet. Deciding that she wouldn't be safe trying to get home he offered the girl, Marie, his room for the night. They spent part of the night bonding over similar pasts and goals, as well as discovering that the violin was apparently a key to Napoleon's lost treasure and resolved to investigate together the next day.
